As a Green and Natural mama I am a huge advocate and supporter of breastfeeding. I honestly think it is the single most important thing you can do to aid in your child’s development (even if for only one day!). They benefits are endless, the bond unimaginable and the effects long- lasting. Breastfeeding can be difficult, and although I had a comparatively easier time than some, I know that without my supportive network, any questions, confusions or doubts I had would have made my breastfeeding time a lot more challenging. I had support from the very woman by whom I was breastfed, my husband, my sister, sister-in-law, best friend, close friends and many members of my community. Having a support system to rely on made breastfeeding an even more pleasurable experience. If you are an expectant mom I urge you to talk to other moms about the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding before your baby’s arrival. Reading books and taking classes are helpful too, but I found real life talk from women who didn’t hold anything back helped me the most. The La Leche League is a supportive, pro-breastfeeding group that has been around for decades. They offer a myriad of services and are there for you day and night to help you through the very “job” you were created to do for your baby.

In the early stages of breastfeeding my best friend gave my Lanisnoh soothing gel pads and they were a life saver. I have bought them for several friends and family members and think they should hand them out in hospitals. I love that they are reusable.

But the one item, I used for breastfeeding “ailments”, cracked hands, minor cuts, scalp irritations and anything I could think of, was the Lansinoh HPA Lanolin.
